Monitor Audio SILVER 300
The Monitor Audio Silver 300 Floorstanding Speakers are the newest in the Silver series. The 300s retain the familiar, award-winning configuration of its predecessor; however, several crucial improvements have been made to the drivers. The full three-way design delivers class-leading mid-range, and a pair of long-throw 6 ½ -inch bass drivers work together in order to produce outstanding power from the tall, yet slim cabinet design. This makes the Monitor Audio Silver 300 Speakers the absolute perfect choice for serious audiophile and AV installations.
The three-way configuration present in the Silver 300s allows each driver to be optimised in order to do a better job over a much narrower frequency band; the only real way to deliver elevated performance in every respect. Natural mid-range comes courtesy of a dedicated four-inch driver that has been specially-designed with an 'under hung' voice coil and motor system. This technique ensures the voice coil always remains in the magnetic gap under all conditions for demonstrably lower distortion than would usually be found at this level. The effect this has on the sound produced can be immediately heard.
The Monitor Audio Silver 300, coupled with higher overall impedance and better overall system damping, can be placed close to a wall. However, as this is a pair of serious audiophile speakers, the 300s can also deliver seismic levels of bass extension. For the optimum performance, a distance of 12 inches is needed between the speakers and the wall, thus allowing the system to breathe and perform optimally. High overall sensitivity ensures that the Monitor Audio Silver 300 speakers are easy to drive, with a modest, high-quality amplifier that delivers precise and dynamic music that will fill medium to large rooms.
Once again thanks for your help. I first visited Bartletts in 1993 and bought the Audiolab 8000a to equalise and compete with whatever the neighbours were playing at the time through the very thin walls of a Victorian Mansion Block. My Quad at the time although could musically could not compete. I had bought the Quad in 1984 at a place in Camden by Mornington Crescent, although I felt that I bought what" that particular shop "wanted to sell me rather than what I wanted.
I would just like to thank the Bartlett's team for pulling out all the stops when an order failed to materialise through no fault of their own. Terrific service and would certainly shop with Bartlett's again.
Firstly delivery was estimated at 7-11 days - it was actually delivered by courier the next day (Free). Item was an excellent price and although it was advertised as used - it was absolutely mint. This is what internet buying should be like - well done all at Bartletts!
