About This Product

Edwards Audio's Apprentice MM phono stage is derived from the popular Edwards Audio MM1 and uses a similar circuit topology with passive treble and active bass equalization. Unusual at this price area, it features a second stage amplifier to buffer the equalization network and ensure a low output impedance. The double U case construction removes the need for an expensive front panel, keeping the cost low without compromising performance. With its near silent noise floor and 40dB gain, the Apprentice MM is an ideal budget phono stage for those new to the vinyl game, or anyone looking for an incredible analog value.

  • Max Input MM: 75mV
  • Gain: 40dB MM
  • SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) (MM) 5mV: -83dB
  • Power consumption: 1.5W
  • THD (Total Harmonic Distortion): <0.01% 1kHz

  • Once again thanks for your help. I first visited Bartletts in 1993 and bought the Audiolab 8000a to equalise and compete with whatever the neighbours were playing at the time through the very thin walls of a Victorian Mansion Block. My Quad at the time although could musically could not compete. I had bought the Quad in 1984 at a place in Camden by Mornington Crescent, although I felt that I bought what" that particular shop "wanted to sell me rather than what I wanted.

  • Firstly delivery was estimated at 7-11 days - it was actually delivered by courier the next day (Free). Item was an excellent price and although it was advertised as used - it was absolutely mint. This is what internet buying should be like - well done all at Bartletts!
